New teak decks for Sweden Yacht 45

When the owner of the Sweden Yacht 45, Songline contacted Fox’s Marina & Boatyard to discuss the replacement of his teak decks, the Fox’s technical team were delighted to be able to demonstrate their knowledge and expertise of high quality, production sailing yachts.

Based on the River Hamble, Songline’s owner had struggled to find a yard that he felt could provide the complete range of services and level of professionalism he sought to deliver a comprehensive refit, including teak decking, spar painting and new rod rigging on his much-loved 15-year-old cruiser/racer. Following a visit to Fox’s and lengthy discussions surrounding the technical details of the project and our experience delivering similar projects, he was reassured that boat was in good hands and that Fox’s were more than qualified to deliver the results he required.

In addition to the replacement of the decks, Fox’s rigging team were commissioned to undertake a full and detailed inspection of all rigging hardware and to replace the standing rigging. To coincide with this the paint crew repainted the carbon fibre mast white to rejuvenate the appearance of the spars alongside the new rigging components, all of which are manufactured onsite (see the video of this process here). We also discovered that the Lewmar anchor windlass motor had suffered severe corrosion and required replacement along with the originally installed Spinlock clutches.

To complete the project and to supply a yacht that looks as good as her new decks, we applied fresh antifouling, cleaned, polished and waxed all gelcoat/paint surfaces and replaced transom graphics. See the finished result below.
