This handsome FARR 56 ‘Zina’ has just completed an extensive refit at Fox’s, ensuring it is in top condition for its next journey up into Nordic waters. The refit was focused on the servicing of essential systems, complete overhaul of the rig, refinishing of hull and under water surfaces and making various improvements to existing arrangements on this performance blue water cruiser.
Key works completed:
Maintenance of hull and appendages:
- Underwater surfaces were blasted, prepared and re-coated ensuring long-term protection and improved performance.
- The rudder was removed, inspected, and refinished. Bearings and steering system inspected with new parts fitted as required to address any wear and smooth operation.
- Hull topsides and deck superstructure gel repaired and refinished.
Rigging and deck work:
- Complete rig was removed from the yacht and dismantled for inspection, allowing a complete new rod rigging package to be installed to maintain the yacht’s optimum sailing performance and reliability.
- Running rigging replaced or overhauled as necessary.
- On deck leather work replaced and upgraded.
- Mat equipment rationalised - all mast cabling replaced as required for new lighting, antenna and instrumentation.
- General maintenance and repair tasks were carried out across the deck and its fittings to ensure safety and enhance durability.
- New davits fabricated and installed to suit existing deck arrangement and tender.
- Stem head modified to suit new anchor arrangements.
Electronics and Onboard Systems:
- A series of electronics updates were implemented, including all new sailing instruments and transducers, improving navigation, communication, and onboard monitoring systems.
- New Victron inverter/charging and monitoring system installed.
- Manual and powered hydraulic systems overhauled and upgraded.
- Engine and Generator overhauled, and exhaust arrangement upgraded.
- Stern gear inspected - new shaft and propeller installed and finished with PropSpeed.
Comfort Enhancements:
- A new sprayhood and cockpit tent were installed to provide better protection and comfort in mixed weather conditions.
- WC black water systems inspected and serviced.
- Heating and Air con systems inspected.
- New Zen water maker installed.
