Those of you who have visited Fox’s will be familiar with this face – Lee Gilson, our Marina Manager, usually found in the boatyard, braving all weathers!
Lee’s marine career started at the tender age of 14, when he joined Fox’s as Weekend Harbour Master whilst still at school.
On leaving school Lee worked in Commissioning for Oyster Yachts, also located at Fox’s Marina, then spent a year skippering yachts in sunny climates before returning to work for Fox’s 12 years ago, initially in Rigging and now as Marina Manager.
Lee and his team are responsible for the day-to-day running of the marina, ensuring all boat movements run smoothly and safely in the yard and marina. When asked what he enjoys most about the job Lee said “The variety… no two days are the same and I certainly don’t get a chance to get bored!” Lee’s passion for ‘all things boats’ is apparent, when he’s not tending to customer boats he’s tinkering with his own Dehler 34, Euphoria, which he keeps in the Marina. In his words “I’m at my happiest playing around on boats." On dry land Lee has two dogs and three horses (belonging to his wife and daughter) to keep him busy.
