Meet JJ, one of Fox’s longest standing members of staff. Having been at Fox’s for just over 33 years it’s safe to say he knows just about everything there is to know about the marina and boatyard. Taken on in 1987 as Workshop Supervisor, JJ quickly progressed (experiencing more or less every department on the way) to Marina Manager. Now deservedly semi-retired he works three days a week as Yard Operative.
Even in his spare time JJ doesn’t venture far from water, he can generally be found onboard his much-loved Oyster 26, ‘Zeelust’ (Dutch for ‘Sealove’), when he’s not on the golf course or tinkering with his two classic Landrovers.
JJ is very popular with staff and customers alike, when asked what is his favourite aspect of working at Fox’s, he replies “It’s the people – Fox’s are a great team and there’s good team camaraderie, I also love getting to know the customers, many of whom become friends”. There is a never dull moment when JJ is around on the ‘Wherstead Riveria’ (his nickname for the Marina). If you are ever near-by at Christmas time it is worth popping in just to see him sporting his latest Christmas hat, a 26-year-old tradition that has now extended to Christmas jumpers!
