Ocean Youth Trust North, James Cook, relaunched at Fox’s Marina after winter refit

Following another successful winter refit at Fox’s Marina & Boatyard, the Ocean Youth Trust North sail training yacht, James Cook, has just been re-launched and recommissioned prior to a busy season of sail training commitments. Work this winter has included routine servicing of systems; engine and generator overhaul; electrical re-wiring; new batteries and charger; Stat-X fire suppression system and further engineering work on her steel hull plating and through hull fittings.

With the yacht back afloat, the delivery crew, made up from a mix of trust volunteers and Royal Navy and Army reserve recruits, were looking forward to a breezy passage back up the east coast to her home port in North Shields.

After her departure, we were delighted to hear from Steve Lennon, Managing Director, Ocean Youth Trust North:

James Cook has made a fast passage and, as I write, is just north of Flamborough Head, so in home waters. Thanks to you and your staff for all your hard work and another successful refit.”
