Sail Training yachts refit at Fox’s ahead of busy summer season

The sail training Oyster 49, Offshore Scout, is currently at Fox’s undergoing refit work and will soon be joined by her sistership, Ocean Scout, which is coming in to the yard for work to replace her mizzen rigging. Both yachts are operated by the charity Adventures Offshore and were designed by Holman & Pye and built and equipped by Oyster Marine specifically for their sail training role. The quality of their build and meticulous maintenance programme ensures they are in as good a condition today as they were when launched in 1993 and 1997 respectively.

Ocean Scout will take part in The Tall Ships Races in Denmark and Norway, and both yachts are heading down channel to the Channel Islands later in the summer.

Anyone up for an adventure, from 10 years of age, can join a voyage, with the charity assisting those who are not able to fund all the cost themselves, so there is no barrier to anyone joining in and experiencing the thrill of an ocean passage on board one of these well-equipped sail training vessels.

All Adventure Offshore sea staff are volunteers and they are always pleased to hear from RYA qualified adults who would like to volunteer on their voyages. If you’re interested and may be able to help please get in touch with Adventures Offshore direct at: Sailing@adventuresoffshore.co.uk
