New Racing Yacht Completes at Fox’s

Posted on: Monday, 15th March 2021

Designed by the Carkeek Design Partners in Palma this new 52ft IRC racing yacht has come to Fox’s for fitting out.

Previous Carkeek designs include Ran, the One Ton Cup and Class 40 champion. There are high hopes for this 52-footer which will be racing in UK water this Summer with a program culminating in the 700-mile RORC Fastnet Race in August.

Her carbon hull was built by specialists Fibre Mechanics in Lymington and brought by road to Fox’s for completion. After fairing and spray painting with Awlgrip in Fox’s climate controlled spray shop, the yacht will be moved into an under cover facility alongside The Queens Rowarge Gloriana, also currently being fitted out with pride by Fox’s.

Fox’s work on the new racing yacht will include:

  • Fitting keel, rudders and steering system
  • Custom fabrication of various deck gear components
  • Installation of hydraulic system, deck gear, winches and pedestal drives
  • Fitting out of interior including engine and water ballast system
  • Installation of complete electrical system and instruments
  • Preparation and fitting of rig and rigging

With her bright blue topsides, she should be easy to spot during sailing trials planned for late May in waters local to Fox’s.

With The Queens Rowbarge and this Grand Prix racing yacht under one roof, it's hard to imagine more contrasting vessels, but both are at Fox’s for the same reason – first class workmanship.
