Coppercoating Sonar bottom

Fox’s were delighted to be able to help out our friends at the local charity, The Woolverstone Project again. This time we prepared and Coppercoated their newly acquired 22’ Sonar keelboat. As a dry sailed racing boat the vessel had never been antifouled, so Coppercoat was recommended and applied in order to maintain a super smooth bottom finish whilst also offering excellent antifouling properties.

This particular vessel was previously owned by local Paralympian, Hannah Stodel, who has competed in four Paralympics, sailing Sonars. The boat Fox’s worked on is one of the Sonars used for London 2012, and she planned to use it again for 2020. Hannah sold the boat to the Woolverstone Project when sailing was sadly dropped from future Paralympics. The RYA and World Sailing have been campaigning extensively for its return in time for the 2028 games and The Woolverstone Project and Fox’s wholeheartedly support this.

The Woolverstone Project is operated entirely by volunteers and is one of the largest Sailability Centres in the UK. They provide sailing opportunities and tuition for those with disabilities. For more information visit www.woolverstoneproject.org.uk
