Fox’s Marina & Boatyard has been providing commercial and workboat services for many years and, more recently, has developed relationships with several of the North Sea windfarm operators, providing them with 24/7 support and service. Other commercial operations from the North Sea and Channel ports and beyond have been enjoying what Fox’s has to offer and has helped us gain a reputation for providing outstanding and professional commercial support.
We can provide 24-hour support and state-of-the-art specialist facilities, including our largest, 70 tonne, 6.4m wide travel lift. With in house and mobile coded welders, marine and electronic engineers and our ability to work off site as required, we can provide significant resources quickly and efficiently to keep projects and industry moving.
Fox’s multiple in-house departments, can call upon a skilled labour force to assist with any commercial and workboat requirements, including composite repairs, painting, joinery, marine engineering, electronics, rigging, and fabrication.
We understand the unique demands placed on commercial vessels and workboats, allowing us to successfully complete specialist commercial boat building, repair, and refit work.
Here at Fox’s Marina & Boatyard, we provide professional yard services to an increasing number of wind farm support and crew transfer vessels operating in the North Sea and English Channel.
Over recent years, we’ve seen an increasing demand for repairs and refits on wind farm transfer vessels, particularly on the latest generation of both alloy and composite catamarans. With the capacity to lift these high-speed support vessels, as well as a 24/7 service for emergency repairs and engine/stern gear servicing, we are the preferred port of call for wind farm vessels in need of urgent support. We understand that, for commercial vessels, fast turn around is of the upmost importance, which is why we go above and beyond to ensure that every wind farm support vessel is back up and running asap — usually within 24 hours.
Fox’s is able to offer refit, and repair services to Pilot, Harbour patrol and associated operators with the capacity to meet most applications, including salvage and towing requirements. All commercial projects are allocated a project manager to coordinate communication between the client and our hands-on department managers. This allows us to offer the best advice based on knowledge, and bring innovative solutions alongside clear and transparent quotations.
In recent years, we have noticed an increasing demand for commercial refit expertise on all types of small and medium sized commercial vessels. At Fox’s Marina & Boatyard, we have the skills, experience, facilities, and team to meet this growing demand.
Our independent marina features 24-hour deep water access, fuel dock and linear berthing suitable for most larger vessels plus two travel lifts that are able to accommodate up to 70 tonnes and a maximum vessel beam of 6.4m. With various handling and storage options, extensive areas of hard standing, large undercover workshops and the option of access for specialist contract staff, Fox’s is fully equipped to meet any commercial requirements.
Over the years, we have specialised in commercial repairs and refits for clients including Harwich Harbour, PLA, Trinity House, Medway Ports, Estuary Services Ltd and Suffolk and Essex Police. We are committed to completing your commercial refit project effectively, efficiently and to the highest possible standard. With multiple specialist departments under one roof, we can access all of the skills needed to complete your commercial refit in-house.
Fox’s can advise and arrange for MCA inspection and assist with compliance and equipment supply.
Vessels in commercial use for sport or pleasure must be compliant with the relevant Maritime and Coastguard Agency (MCA) Code of Practice. The MCA code of practice details both the equipment a vessel must carry on board and the certificate of competence required by the skipper. Depending on the usage, periodic inspection of the vessel, systems and its equipment will be required.
Whether you are running a sailing school or fleet of commercial vessels, considering chartering your private yacht or simply need advice on the various requirements, Fox’s can help. Working alongside experienced and qualified MCA surveyors, we can advise and arrange for inspection, assist with achieving compliance and organise the supply of relevant safety equipment.
We are always pleased to hear from anyone interested in joining the team at Fox’s Marina & Boatyard, particularly if you have experience in any of the services we offer or you’re keen to build on the skills you already have in a trainee role.
