Tocatta, the stunning Sparkman & Stephens Finistere Yawl, returned to Fox’s Marina & Boatyard for a second season and a more comprehensive refit following a new engine installation by Fox’s in 2014.
Toccata was built by The Berthon Boat Company in 1963 for Judge Peter Bristow and her build was personally overseen by founder and legendary yacht designer Olin Stephens. Built with teak planking on rock elm with bronze floors and a bronze centerplate, Toccata has been in the same families’ ownership for 41 years and the Bristow family still enjoy sailing her.
This year, the highly skilled team of craftsmen at Fox’s was entrusted with completely stripping and recoating Toccata’s beautiful teak coachroof and on-deck bright work and repainting her topsides and recoating bottom paint. Her bronze keel bolts were drawn, checked and refitted and the main companionway sliding hatch rebuilt.
New custom stanchion bases were fabricated by Fox’s Stainless and fitted to suit covering board detail and a new diesel heater was installed, running custom radiators in the saloon.
