Fox’s has recently un-stepped the mast of an Oyster 665, recently sold through Oyster Brokerage, to commence the replacement of the rod rigging aboard this beautiful yacht.
Fox’s Marina & Boatyard is one of the few specialist rigging companies in the UK with the capability to handle rigging projects of this size. Rod rigging requires the use of specialist equipment, including a large hydraulic cold press machine that utilises a series of dies, clamps and rams to press a head onto the rod. The formed head prevents the terminal fitting from slipping off the fully-loaded rod rigging. The rods themselves can last a long time and have much improved mechanical properties when compared with traditional wire, however rod cold heads are prone to cracking and we recommend they are professionally inspected and serviced at least every six years.
Part of the work that will be undertaken aboard this Oyster 665 is a full inspection to ensure all elements of the rig are in good shape and safe for many years to come.
