Refit work has started on the Ramsgate Pilot Boat, Estuary Escort, which arrived at Fox’s recently for her 5-year major refit.
The first job was to remove both her 2.4 tonne twin screw Caterpillar 3406E engines, which will undergo a complete overhaul, whilst Fox’s engineers service her steering and stern gear.
Further work carried out by the team at Fox’s will include complete painting of hull, topsides, underwater surfaces, deck and superstructure; repair/replacement of hull topside fendering; deep clean of engine rooms and fuel tank spaces; overhaul of steering gear, MOB recovery system, seacock / engineering maintenance, raw water systems, trim tabs, electrics, batteries and nav equipment.
