An essential job on any cruising yacht’s maintenance schedule is a rig check and at Fox’s we routinely send our riggers out to inspect yachts around the world. It’s also a good idea to have a professional rig check carried out when you purchase a brokerage yacht to establish the safety of a rig and plan a forward maintenance schedule, which helps to give new owners complete peace of mind. The owner of Oyster 54-08 Sarah Belle II, who purchased the yacht on brokerage in 2017, asked Fox’s Yacht Service to arrange a visit to his yacht in Andalusia, Spain to determine what rig works may be required in the future. Following our initial inspection, some remedial work was carried out immediately and a further visit planned for the winter to strip the mast for a repaint, re-rig and to replace the standing rigging. Alongside this work, the owner has asked Fox’s Yacht Service to quote for a complete electronics upgrade, which will be carried out by our inhouse electricians.
