Gunfleet 58 refits at Fox’s ahead of World Cruise

Following her change of ownership, we recently had the pleasure of Gunfleet 58-02 returning to Fox’s for her first visit of an extensive service and maintenance programme. Amité’s new owners have an ambitious cruising itinerary planned, with departure scheduled for around 18 months time. This summer’s visit was the first stage in a schedule of works to be carried out by Fox’s in preparation for an extended world cruise.

As part of this programme, the mast and rigging was surveyed and NDT tested – some repair work was undertaken and a number of carefully planned upgrades made. Externally the hull and deck were compounded and polished, all teak cleaned and treated, stainless steel polished and a beautiful, new canvas sprayhood, bimini and covers fitted by Dolphin Sails & Covers.

The Fox’s engineering team carried out a full service of main engine, generator and air conditioning systems. The centreboard and its lifting system were also treated to a thorough overhaul – the board was removed for inspection, antifouled, re-fitted, adjusted for lateral tolerance and a replacement Vectran lifting strop fitted.

Down below, in the heart of the yacht, the Fox’s joinery team was commissioned to undertake a number of adjustments, modifications and refinishing of the sole-boards.  Fox’s engineers upgraded the batteries, nav equipment/electronics and CZone control systems inline with the new owner’s requirements.

When she was re-launched in August, Amitié, looked as though she had just left the builder and better prepared than ever to take on the world’s oceans again.
