A Bespoke Solution…
The owner of an Aquastar 38 motor yacht gave us a brief to design and build a crane that could easily ship, launch and retrieve a Topaz sailing dinghy from storage chocks on the yacht’s coachroof.
Having examined the vessel’s coachroof structure, the required reach and lifting requirements, Fox’s engineered a single rotating davit arm complete with integral winch. The project included all the necessary structural modifications required to the coachroof, to enable a stainless base plinth and bearing socket to be installed, allowing support for the custom, swinging davit arm. Chocks to carefully support the lightweight dinghy hull profile were made and fitted, offering secure stowage when at sea.
The owner was delighted with the finished result and has spent the summer cruising with his grandchildren who have made full use of the new installation!
A Customised Solution…
Do you require a davit solution to allow a RIB or solid tender to be lifted and securely stowed when offshore, without limiting the use of the bathing platform or transom step?
An alternative to a bespoke solution is to utilise off-the-shelf davits that can be supplied in various materials including carbon fibre and stainless steel.Using the best combination of composite reinforcement and stainless fabrication, Fox’s are able to design and deliver customised structural solutions, allowing transfer of davit loads into a vessel’s original structure. The davits fitted on this yacht were the latest Zero design from Cooney Marine.
