International artist holds painting masterclass at Fox’s Marina

Internationally acclaimed watercolour artist, Alvaro Castagnet, held a painting masterclass at Fox’s today, for a group of artists taking part in a workshop run by Dedham Hall.

We see plenty of top class painting going on in the yard here at Fox’s every day, but this was certainly in a different league and the finished result, the view from Fox’s Marina looking across the River Orwell, completed in very blustery conditions, is fantastic!

Alvaro Castagnet was born in Montevideo, in the beautiful South American country of Uruguay. His early interest in art was cultivated mainly by his father, who sent him to the National School of Art in Montevideo at a very young age where he was taught by Professor Esteban Garino. Castagnet carried on his formal education in art at the Fine Arts University, where Miguel Angel Pareja was his oil painting tutor.

Those taking part in today’s watercolour painting class at Fox’s were certainly enjoying the diverse views in and around our boatyard.
